Your students already use AI for homework. Banning it is the answer that doesn't work
In any classroom with phones, AI is already in: summaries, homework, translations. Total prohibition fails because it is undetectable and unfair — it punishes whoever confesses. What works is changing the question: grade the process and not just the product, ask for what AI does poorly (lived experience, local context, oral defense) and teach students to use it with judgment, because that will be a basic skill of their adult lives.
